After the success of its first edition in 2012, Zagoa Festival promises to be the musical experience not to be missed this year in Morocco.

From Marrakech, the city of a thousand and one night until the Draa Valley and its landscape that combines the desert sand and green palm groves, through Ouarzazate, the Moroccan Hollywood, the path Zagora will be the opportunity to discover a panorama and human diversity outsized .

Starting point for many centuries for camel caravans venturing to distant Timbuktu, Zagora, the borders of the Sahara, but surrounded by the Atlas Mountains, a meeting place for Berber farmers and Arab pastors, marked by hot days and freezing nights, is a land of contrasts, a door between worlds.

While some seek ease and comfort, Zagoa Festival chose the authenticity and challenge.

It is in the south of Morocco, marked by asceticism and fundamental, far away from these modern flourishes such as consumerism and the artificial, the organizers have made the crazy bet to graft their univers.

Recently founded in 2010, MEMCO is the result of a large collective of musicians, artists, DJs, performers, sound and lighting engineers. Highly motivated by the same desire to promote electronic music in Morocco, these independent professionals have united their efforts to form your Moroccan Electronic Music Collective.All the members, with their own personal background, have built their experiences through electronic music. This explains the large scope of skills represented within our collective.Electronic music has known a great evolution in the world since the early 90s and audiences have been growing ever since however it is yet to become popular within the North African countries.Welcoming feedback from young Moroccan fans who have recently shown great interest in the Electronic music, our group has won a wide audience by programming more than arround twelve events, including 7 electronic music festivals in the heart of exotic and prestigious locations.The events surrounding our movement are oriented toward a little world that is yet to be explored. The festival will take place at the gate of the Sahara desert, in M’hamid’s region about one hour drive south of Zagora.The gathering will be held in the heart of a large area surrounded by sand dunes at the foot of the mountains.This region is famous for its hiking and desert bivouacs located at the heart of a fragile ecosystem.The region of Zagora, known as The Upper Draa River valley with its green oases (200 km long), consists of six stretches of  palm oases groves from north to south:
– The Mezguita oasis, in Agdz,  Auriz localities and at the south of it the Tamsikht dam.
– The oasis of Tinzouline, in Ouled Lagraier, Tinzouline, Ouled Yaoub localities and a dam at south of it.
– The Ternata oasis in Zagora.
– The Fezouata oasis in Tamegroute and south of it the Azagha dam.
– The Ktaoua oasis (English Ktawa) in Tagounite, Blida, Tiraf and the Bounou dam south of it.
– The oasis of M’hamid el Ghizlane in M’hamid el Ghizlane.The width of the ‘green zone’ is on an average of three kilometers (varying from 100m to 10 kilometers).Because of the field, the agriculture is very labour intensive. Dates are the main product, but also cereals, vegetables and henna are cultivated.You will be amazed by the richness of the site region and its landscape.

Each evening a light show will be performed. Indeed stage managers will take turns to present a light show worthy of the name.Laser show involves the use of laser light to entertain an audience. A laser light show may consist only of projected laser beams set to music, or may accompany another form of entertainment, typically musical performances.Laser light is useful in entertainment because the coherent nature of laser light allows a narrow beam to be produced, which allows the use of optical scanning to draw patterns or images on walls, ceilings or other surfaces including theatrical smoke and fog without refocusing for the differences in distance, as is common with video projection.This inherently more focused beam is also extremely visible, and is often used as an effect. Sometimes the beams are “bounced” to different positions with mirrors to create laser sculptures.For the Laser show, we have called for the 2nd time, Laser Beam Factory as they are a reference in the field. This association has one of the best laser shows in the world, showcased by recreating real environments and breathtaking scenery light. They perform in several prestigious festivals such as Vuuv Festival and Full Moon festival…

After more than 10 years of using Arkaos GrandVj, Today I decided to give a new dimension to my visuals set-ups..

When we first started working on Resolume, VJ’ing was an underground culture. VJs were people who loved to do what they do, who just loved to drag projectors and computers around, show after show, weekend after weekend. If there was any form of payment, it was often just a crate of beer which doubled as a « desk » to put their laptops on.

Since then we’ve seen the scene grow to heights nobody could have imagined back then. Huge LED screens now take up the stage designs of every music festival. Projection mapping on custom geometry is a staple of the DJ booth in every club. Around the world, visual artists are setting fire to every room and facade with beautiful glowing pixels. Some of the people playing from that beer crate 15 years ago are now flying across the world in private jets accompanying superstar DJ’s.

We should never forget who we are and where we come from. So this weekend we give thanks to the old people that have pushed the visual arts to such great heights. And to the new people that will continue to push it in untold directions. We love the path we have walked together with you for almost 15 years now and we’re curious to see where it will take us in the future.
